Can you tell us a little about yourself outside of cricket?

Married with 2 daughters and live in Northwest Sydney. i work for Cricket NSW doing some coaching.

Can you give us a quick rundown on your playing history for the lions?

Came to play at Fairfield following playing Green shield at Parramatta. I guess I moved pretty quickly through the grades before finding my way into first grade not long after. That’s where I stayed and played for the rest of my time. I grew up playing with a lot of the guys in the team and we had a bit of success with a few premierships.

Any fond memories around the club that you can share with us?

I played more than half my life with the Lions… Plenty of lifelong friendships, good times and funny stories too many to mention but memorable things are always sharing the wins with your mates afterwards and I guess the times we won comps were the biggest wins and fond memories of them.

Do you remember your first game for the club?

My first game for Fairfield was at Don Dawson in 4th-grade v Parramatta I didn’t trouble the scorers with the bat but got 4 wickets and we had a win Mark Vergano was captain he was an excellent administrator at the club who were lucky to have him.

Is there anyone who you’ve admired regarding the presence they had or the way they go about their business in a game?

I played with so many great players and had good coaches and administrators but the 3 guys who had a lasting effect on me were. Bill York – cap number 1 for the club but looked after all the guys he cared about us made the club a safe place a home away from homes who had a way to keep the game simple but make us feel like we could be better the greatest Lion of all in my eyes.

  • David Kelley – super batter tough guy who knew the game inside out. Always gave with his time and gave you honesty sometimes even when you never asked for it. You had to earn his respect when you did he would do anything for you, Legend.
  • Richard Gerdes – I never played with Richard but he was always coach of our pgs team that went pretty well, always on the committee and always making sure the right thing was getting done for the playing group while playing in the middle grades and giving a generation of guys cricket and life experience a super guy and friend to everyone, absolute Legend.

Any standout performances you’ve seen someone put together?

I’ve seen some awesome things on the field from amazing players and Fairfield Liverpool that help win us games Through the years but I’ll single out Ben Rohrer and Grant Lambert’s huge partnership in our 2nd Belvedere Cup win it was dominant.

Any teams you looked forward to playing the most?

No one team but whoever had the best players playing were the games I enjoyed playing the most.

Are there any individual performances from yourself that stand out?

None that really stand out always nice to do well could give you some numbers but I think just competing and winning were the bits I like the most.

Any advice for any young players trying to make their way up the grades, or find their feet in grade cricket?

I would say to young guys be patient and enjoy themselves mainly. Also, keep trying to get better and try to get amongst the club culture it’s always been a place if you are playing well opportunities to progress will come.
